Agrovision is a major player in the agricultural sector with a strong, rapid growth rate. While its corporate headquarters are located in Lima, the company operates extensively across approximately 12 sites, including processing plants and farming camps in northern Peru (Chiclayo, Tumbes), alongside active operations in Mexico.
The company was previously operating on a legacy network infrastructure. This outdated technology limited their growth capacity, lacked advanced security features, and provided zero visibility into the health of their network (zero reporting).
THE CHALLENGE
Agrovision faced a clear need for a technological upgrade. Their primary objectives were to increase service redundancy, incorporate robust perimeter security, and unify the technology management of their sites in Peru and Mexico under a single provider.
For Convergia, the greatest technical challenge lay in thoroughly mapping and understanding the client’s initial workflow and existing topology. Executing a seamless migration without operational downtime was critical for an agribusiness that cannot afford to halt operations. This required an intensive consulting effort before modifying or touching any equipment.
THE SOLUTION
Convergia deployed a comprehensive Networking and Security solution based on the Fortinet ecosystem, including Firewalls and FortiAnalyzer.
To overcome the migration challenge, joint working sessions were established. A multidisciplinary team of approximately 11 people—6 from Agrovision’s IT/Systems department and 5 experts from Convergia—spent weeks analyzing workflows. The entire implementation was executed over a three-month period, progressing seamlessly site by site.
In addition to physical hardware, the solution featured integrations with Agrovision’s cloud (Azure) to manage remote endpoint authentication. The entire deployment was delivered under a managed services model, with Convergia assuming operational responsibility and configuration changes.
RESULTS & HIGHLIGHTS
The technological transformation delivered an immediate impact on Agrovision’s day-to-day operations:
- Total Visibility: They went from 0% network visibility to having automated and scheduled reporting (weekly/monthly) of all network KPIs, fully powered by FortiAnalyzer.
- International Expansion: The outstanding results achieved during the deployment across the 12 sites in Peru drove Agrovision’s decision to replicate the exact same model and equipment in their Mexico operations, achieving their goal of regional standardization.
- Future-Ready Network: Agrovision now boasts a resilient and highly scalable network. This new infrastructure serves as the perfect foundation to support their upcoming long-term projects, including migrating more services to the cloud.
