Multicloud Synergy: Convergia and Orión Transform the Energy Sector

The end client is a major utility and electricity corporation in the energy sector backed by Asian capital, holding public service concessions across extensive areas of Metropolitan Lima.

After acquiring the local operations of a European energy firm, the company faced a fragmented technological infrastructure. They inherited resources and data centers located in Europe that were completely outside their technological footprint, which was centralized in Latin America (primarily in Brazil and Chile).

To run their daily operations, they relied on multiple independent internet connections to various public clouds. This created high operational costs, security vulnerabilities, and an immensely complex management workflow.

THE CHALLENGE:

The client needed to migrate their European resources to their environment in Brazil. To achieve this, they required unifying their cloud connections, optimizing costs, and elevating their security standards. Furthermore, due to strict corporate compliance policies, they faced a critical constraint: data traffic was strictly prohibited from routing through the United States.

The entire bidding and solution design process was driven by Orión, a technology integrator, Convergia Channel Partner, and expert in Cloud and Cybersecurity. While Orión mastered the cloud architecture (AWS, Oracle, etc.), they needed a strategic partner with expertise in agnostic telecommunications to provide the complex connectivity layer the client demanded—and to deliver it under an extremely tight implementation timeline.

THE SOLUTION

Through a solid strategic alliance, Orión and Convergia presented an unbeatable joint proposal. While Orión managed the cloud environments, Convergia deployed a comprehensive Cloud Connect solution backed by SD-WAN technology.

  • Centralization and Routing: The client’s multiple connections were unified, routing all traffic to a primary hub deployed in São Paulo, Brazil, perfectly meeting the client’s international routing compliance policies.
  • Security and Redundancy: Unlike competitors offering traditional links, Convergia added an SD-WAN layer, guaranteeing high availability and end-to-end encryption (including the last-mile service to their administrative offices in Lima).
  • Flexible Contracts: The client was granted an agile, month-to-month contracting model—free from rigid 3-to-5-year agreements, perfectly aligned with their technology migration phase.

MIGRATION RESULTS: OPTIMIZED CONNECTIVITY

This synergy demonstrated the power of a well-coordinated partner ecosystem, achieving outstanding results for both the client and the integrator:

  • Implementation in Record Time: Although the contract SLA stipulated 35 days, Convergia’s operations team successfully deployed the entire complex network architecture in just 32 days.
  • Self-Management and Scalability: The client now benefits from a pre-approved pricing schedule that allows them to self-manage and provision new connections on-demand as their services scale, alongside automated monthly network reporting.
  • The Value for the Partner (Orión): Partnering with Convergia enabled Orión to complement its Cloud service portfolio with agnostic, secure, and highly cost-competitive connectivity. This economic and technical optimization was pivotal in winning the contract over other major multinational carriers.
